Choke & Kill Equipment

This is a header with multiple outlets of different API sizes and ratings. Its connections are either flanged or studded. The upstream of the buffer chamber has equal or higher pressure ratings than the BOPs. Equipment downstream of the chokes has pressure lower than the choke lines and the BOP. The buffer chamber absorbs downstream expansion of gases and reduces the manifold outlet velocities.

More outlets are provided to ensure any failure of one will not affect the manifold operations.

Choke manifolds are comprised of valves and chokes for controlling the flow from the well. During drilling, the mud is circulated through the choke manifold when the blowout preventers are closed. A choke manifold is also used to control the pressures encountered during a kick.

Well Test Manifold: Testing of production wells is carried out to assess the reservoir potential under dynamic conditions at the surface. It validates well performance during clean-up and commissioning. It also allows one to calculate the flow rate for various reservoir parameters that need to be monitored for better field management.

API 16C covers the buffer chamber in the licensing programme.

Buffer chambers can be manufactured from pipe sections or solid blocks, depending on the space restrictions, the number of ports, and the configuration.

We design, manufacture, assemble and test complete manifolds to customer-specific requirements.

Our C&K manifolds main features include:

All components conforming to API specifications are monogrammed
Available up to working pressure 15,000 psi
Both manual and hydraulic gate valve configurations
All manifolds come with a manually adjustable choke, positive choke, and hydraulic chokes conforming to API 16C
The minimum ID of the buffer chamber will be 7-1/16” and all blind flanges have fluid cushions
All pressure-containing and well-wetted materials conform to NACE MR 0175 / ISO 15156
The split buffer chamber design is also available and easy to transport. Hydro has a split skid design to transport manifolds in two pieces. It can also be assembled at the rig
DNV 2.7-3 certification for skids.

Hydro repairs and remanufactures other OEM choke and kill manifolds, with OEM or aftermarket specifications. Upgrades can also be made on the valve along with the replacement of existing studs and nuts to meet API 20E standards.

Hydro can replace or modify the existing buffer chamber to meet ARAMCO’s Well-control Manual 6 requirements and certify to API 6AR, NACE MR 0175, and other complying specifications.

Hydro can also provide on-site support with our engineering specialists to certify existing manifolds, and we can also perform life-cycle management of the manifolds.
